I bought a boat with a Humminbird fishfinder/sounder but it is not working properly. When it is turned on and after it goes through its start up routine, there is a horizontal line across the top of the screen and a figure ("15 m" – presume 15 metres) shown on the bottom of the screen. It remains that way no matter what, regardless of the depth, speed etc. It definitely doesn’t show the contour of the sea floor or any fish etc. I sometimes use the boat in shallow water and the sounder would be a real help.
The transducer is mounted under the transom.
The diagnostic system shows the transducer is connected. Someone mentioned to me that there should be a film of oil (?) under the transducer. Is this true? How can I test the transducer?

Hello,
I want to buy a fish finder for my dad. But except the ones we need to mount on the boat, is there another kind like portable one can use on the fishing rod? or good for fishing near the shore area or like on the little island in the middle of the lake? Which brands are good? Not too expensive one… Still a student.
Thanks,
Shayne
How about HumminBird PiranhaMax 230 Portable Sonar? Is that good and suitable for this case? And how about FishFinder 535? Does it mean if it is sonar portable then I can use it like what I said? Thanks.

My Hummingbird 200dx fish finder work okay with exception of the boat’s speed. Speed and tempeture are both suplied via the same cable. I get tempeture but no speed. Is this caused by a defective cable or how the receiver is mounted on the boat transum or something else?

We obtained a used boat with the fishfinder included. It is a Hummingbird LCR4000 and I know nothing about it. My husband wants to know about the sensor. I think he is wanting to know if it senses the front, rear, 360 degrees, or what???? Please help. Thanks, Dawn

It is saying the depth is around 800 feet even when the water is like 3 feet deep.
The transducer is pointed in the right direction, so It’s not a matter of adjusting it.
I think the problem might be that the transducer isn’t getting power so the depth is displaying the maximum (which is around 800)
Help?

I’m probably only going to use it one time to find a boat that sank in 15 to 20ft of murky water, so I don’t want to pay big $$ for it. I probably need one that shows the the lake bottom out a ways from the boat I’m in. Or does anyone know of another way to find a sunken boat? I only know where it is within about a quarter mile or so.

I am looking for a Fish Finder for my boyfriend for a Christmas Gift, but I’m Not sure which is a good brand.
He fishes in primarily Fresh Water on his Kayak, Canoe, or small Motor boat.
I am looking for a Fish finder that works good, and is relatively small, so that he can take it wherever he likes.
Also I am looking in the 0-0 Range
Thanks

Adding a gps/depth to boat. The boat has a fishfinder on it already. Will the two transducers interfere with each other?
